OutNumber 1.1.0
I am not a liar. I just bend the truth somewhat before I think. Yeah…that’s right… What I’m referring to is this, specifically the part where I say: Colour, and difficulty modes, coming in v1.1. That’s a promise. Difficulty modes are not in OutNumber 1.1.0. I’m sorry, don’t kill me. University really hit hard and it took me a while to get everything else...

Wrapping up on update
Two weeks turns to two months. Blame university, not me. Okay…blame me. I’m working on finishing the next update now. The code is still bad (I’ve learnt some things since - maybe uni is good for something) and the “About” and “Settings” screens still look bad. A bit of a clean up is in order and I’ve got some good ideas that shouldn’t be too...

High scores
I’ve deleted the Flickr group. There was no point in having it there in the first place, really. A true method of keeping high scores in game will be introduced in the future.

Timing of next update
Just something quick. As I’m moving from home the next update might not be completed and submitted for another week. That means it’ll be another two weeks, at least.

Happy Valentine's Day
The theme code is now working in a very complete and horrible state. That’s complete for the user, horrible for the guy doing the coding. Don’t worry though, it does work and it won’t kill your iPhone or iPod (don’t know about iPad…). I’ll just have to clean it up in the future. So celebrate! Just a few more little things to do and there’ll be an update.

Continual play is 100% complete
One down, two to go. That’s right, continual play (or “saving”) is now complete. The minor issue is now gone and it works perfectly. Next up is a splash screen to take the place of that black nothingness that comes up when you start the game. I’m going to do something that’s similar to what Apple has done with their apps and show a blank game screen when the app...

Saving is 99% complete
But “saving” doesn’t sound right, does it? How about “continual play”? Anywho, the other 1% isn’t that important for now. It may or may not be completed by v1.1. If you’re wondering what it is, it’s the ability of the game to return to the point after the “FINISH” button has been pushed. Right now it returns to the point in the game...

On the way to saving
Not only will there be colour in OutNumber 1.1, there’ll also be the ability to save the game if you happen to stop playing and quit. Think of Rolando’s iSave feature. Like that.

OutNumber 1.0.1
Before I start, sorry, no colour yet. These fixes needed to be made quickly. Do you know how much crud I wrote to get v1.0 of OutNumber to work the way it does? Too much. There are variables everywhere and duplicates of everything and it’s structured terribly. All those problems should be gone now. Fixed: Fixed a bug that could leave the dice blank under a certain circumstance The...

Fixed some things and In App Purchase
Fixed: New icon (it’s silver instead of black) Version number on the “About” screen Fixed a bug that could leave the dice blank under a certain circumstance The “Finish”, “Show Perfect Game”, and “Show Player Game” buttons now react much faster It’s now much more obvious when you’re pressing the ”Finish”,...

Submitted the forms to Apple but still haven’t heard back. To hell with it, I’ll go through it tomorrow or something.

Getting an ABN
This week has been hell. With OutNumber finished and nothing else to do but procrastinate, I decided on Monday to submit OutNumber to Apple. Here came the next roadblock; Apple require all Australian developers wishing to sell their apps on the App Store to have an ABN (Australian Business Number). At the time we thought we’d just put it in my dad’s name as his banking details are as...

Another bug gone
Seems I forgot to reset the diceRolled boolean variable when you cleared the screen. The end result, of course, is that the last number rolled could still be set in the first square. It wasn’t threatening though as the only way it could have been used to gain an advantage would be to roll a six, shake, and then set the ill-gotten six. The difference, at most, would be that of five points. ...

Some holes plugged and words augmented
More things to do today. The first one was to make sure you could actually read the “About” page text. While it may look perfectly fine in the iPhone Simulator, it certainly didn’t on my iPod. The size 12 text was way too small so I bumped it up to 14. Much better. Something else to do was check to make sure I wasn’t leaking memory everywhere. Pissing off a device with as...

Bugs squishie-squashed
In installing OutNumber to my iPod touch (finally) I found two, game changing, bugs. Wait, of course they were game changing, OutNumber is a game… The first I ran into was one that displayed the wrong result at the end of the game. You see, when you finish a game in OutNumber, it gives you the option to also show the best game you could have played. The problem was that a variable...

No "J"s allowed!
Just signing up is a pain. Here’s the story. Went to go sign up and pay for the iPhone Developer Program with my dad’s help (as I don’t have a credit card) yesterday. The first problem we came across was that we couldn’t use my account with his credit card. Annoying but reasonable, I guess. Here’s where it really got annoying. After paying it said it should have...
